Alternaria and Colletotrichum are genera of fungi belonging to the class Deuteromycetes (also known as Fungi Imperfecti), which are characterized by the absence of a known sexual stage. They reproduce primarily asexually through specialized asexual spores called conidia. These conidia are produced on conidiophores and are responsible for the rapid spread and dissemination of the fungi, often causing plant diseases.
